Cynthia Boo
Graduate Student
Psychological Sciences
Cynthia received her bachelors in psychology from Juniata College in 2017 and her masters in general psychology, with a focus on cultural psychology, from the New School for Social Research in 2019. She is interested in how autistic youth use language as they engage in social interactions (e.g., storytelling, conversations). Cynthia examines language use at the structural (e.g., semantics and syntax) and pragmatic (e.g., the use of discourse markers, such as “like” and “you know”) levels. The goal of her dissertation is to explore linguistic variables that may be predictive of friendship quality and satisfaction for autistic and non-autistic youth.
